Where we shoot and what light we choose are paramount in developing the mood behind the magic. Alive Studios offers three significantly different options when it comes to location:

Studio - Our space is located in North Boulder across from the newly develop Uptown Broadway Shops at the intersection of Broadway and Yarmouth. It is equipped with a variety of backdrops, strobes and lights, reflectors and a myriad of props. Natural skylights provide the option to use sunlight when appropriate. Everything from product shooting and corporate portraits to pregnancy and model portfolio work is embraced with competence.

Outdoors - The majestic beauty of Boulder and the surrounding Front Range provide the most amazing outdoor studio - a photographers dream. Chautauqua Park, Boulder Falls, CU Campus, Pearl Street Mall, The Creak Path, Flagstaff Amphitheater…. Each of these places embodies a unique aspect of Boulder. Depending on our intent, the time of year, and the light; outdoor locations in Boulder can provide almost anything we desire. I have been exploring the area for seven years and know many magical places that may even surprise the most aware locals. Bring your smile and prepare to explore!!

Location - Certain situations benefit from the familiarity of your own space. While the challenges of shooting in a new environment can present creative difficulties, it often brings a sense of timelessness to portrait work. Your backyard swing set, a fireplace in the den, the hardwood kitchen table, a baby's nursery. Each of these places hold energy that can help bring out magic during a photo shoot.
